2025 Lunar New Year Donation for Homeless Project in Bay Area 

Every year around Lunar New Year, the Chinese community is always filled with festive joy. During this chilly time of year, we have not forgotten that in this high technology hub of Silicon Valley, many people are experiencing homelessness and are in need of help.

This year, the SVWA Youth group launched a special campaign collecting clothing and daily necessities donations to homeless encampments. Once the message was shared, it received great support from the multiple communities. Very quickly, we received a large number of donations from the 95124 Cambrian, Saratoga, Cupertino and Redwood City neighborhoods. After volunteers sorting and organizing the donated items, they were delivered, on several Fridays, directly to those living in homeless camps near the San Jose Airport.

After the donation request was sent out via WeCha in early January, the response from neighbors significantly exceeded expectations. We received a wide variety of clothing for both men and women for all seasons, including many warm winter coats/jackets and several outdoor waterproof jackets in excellent condition. Many of the donated clothes and shoes were clean, well-folded, and some even brand new! In addition to the requested items like outdoor refrigerators and seasoning packets, we also received sheets, comforters, various blankets, bath towels, and daily essentials like toothpaste and toothbrushes. These items were highly appreciated/welcomed and all were distributed on the day of the event! A neighbor donated a box of Chinese New Year Edition cakes which are sweet and kind!

On January 31st, the third day of the Lunar New Year, volunteers also prepared Chinese-style fried rice and fried noodles （materials funded by SVWA STEM Project) so that the people at the camps could enjoy warm food and snacks during the holiday. People celebrated the holiday together and shared Lunar New Year blessings.

We sincerely thank every donor! Behind each piece of donation is a heart willing to help others. We are deeply moved, profoundly grateful, and sincerely appreciative of our communities. Through this campaign, we saw more than just the donation/delivery of clothing and supplies — it was a profound display of empathy and support for those in need.

Although this year’s New Year cloth donation campaign has come to an end, donations from various communities are still coming in. Volunteers continue delivering these items to San Jose homeless camps from time to time. We believe that this will continue to circulate and bring help to more and more people, in more and more places!

2025年新春送温暖活动 – 春节前后为湾区无家可归者捐赠衣物和生活用品

每年的春节华人社区总是一片热闹喜气洋洋。  乍暖还寒时候，我们没有忘记在这个科技中心有越来越多的无家可归者也很需要温暖。  今年青年部发起了为无家可归者新春送温暖的活动， 收集衣物和生活用品送去营地。消息发出去后得到了社区的巨大回响及支持。 我们很快收到了义工们收集到到来自95124 Cambrian、Saratoga, Cupertino 和 Redwood City 四个社区的大量捐赠，这些物资经义工分类整理后在几个周五分批送往住在San Jose 机场旁边营地里的无家可归者手中。

在一月初发出召集捐赠请求后，邻居们的热心反馈远超预期，我们收到了很多不同季节男式女式衣物，包括很多当季厚外套和多件状态良好的户外防雨外套。很多衣物送/取来的时都是干干净净整整齐齐，有的衣服鞋子还是全新的！除了之前我们列出的户外冰箱、袋装方便调味料包等，我们还收到床单床罩、各种毯子和浴巾毛巾、牙膏牙刷等非常实用的生活用品。这些日用品很受欢迎全部在发放当天被领完！此外，还有邻居捐了春节特别款精美糕点！

在新春初三1/31那天，义工们还专门准备了中式炒饭和炒面，让营地内的人们也能在节日期间吃到热乎的中餐以及中式点心，大家一起同庆春节，并送上美好新春祝福。

感谢每一位捐赠者！每一件捐赠品背后，都是一颗愿意分担他人苦难的心！对我们所在的社区感动、感恩、感谢！通过这次活动，我们看到的不仅是衣物生活用品的传递，更是一份份对那些有困难有需要的人的关心关怀。

虽然今年的新春送温暖活动暂时结束了，但我们仍然持续收到来自不同社区捐赠，义工们仍会不定期将捐赠物资送去无家可归者营地。相信这份善意会持续流转，会在更多的地方帮助到更多的人！
