Teach and Learn for a Cause

Join Silicon Valley Women’s “One Hour a Week” Campaign

Have you thought of doing something other than your 9 to 5 job, like discovering some hidden talent inside yourself, and building a school for poor children in China at the same time?

As part of Silicon Valley Women Association' s 2007 fundraising activities, we are starting a new "Teach for a cause, learn for a cause" initiative. You teach an online or in person session, one hour a week for 3 months (1-3). You donate all or some of your tuition to the SV Women 2007 fundraising drive.

Peter Drucker, father of modern management, said "there is no better way to learn than teaching." In the last couple decades of your life, you have developed expertise in your work, you life, or your hobby.  Start sharing with others and you will:

-- discover the joy and rewards of teaching
-- further develop your expertise ("there is no better way to learn than teaching")
-- extend your horizon, ("I am better than I thought")
-- extend your social network, make new friends & share your interest.

We are sure that you are able to teach subjects such as:
-- Conversational Chinese
-- Chinese/English writing
-- Chinese book reading and discussion
-- Photography
-- Family travel guide with kids
-- Chinese culture (art, music, history, medicine, etc)
-- Cross cultural marriage
-- Help in raising multicultural kids

We will have an informational online event on how to teach and what else you could do to help. We will send out more details later. Send email to Connie Liu (connieliu2006@ gmail.com) if you are interested in joining us and sharing your talent for a great cause. Or visit  http://www.lingeasy .com/web/svwcharity
